Visitors to Foxfield Country Park will soon have access to free exercise equipment after South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) reallocated developer contributions from nearby warehouses.
In 2011 the now defunct West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) granted planning permission for the warehousing and negotiated more than £217,000 in contributions from the developer for improvements to local infrastructure.
Cllr Roger Clarke, SNC’s portfolio holder for Planning, said: "When the WNDC came to an end their powers and responsibilities returned to SNC and that includes managing any underspends.
"There’s been a bit of toing and froing, but we think freely accessible exercise equipment in a very well used park will have the longest term benefit to the widest possible range of people."
The actual detail of the equipment to be installed is still to be considered by Grange Park Parish Council, but a range of equipment will benefit the community and will enhance the use of the country park.
