Towcestrians U11 player Rory Hammond is to be an official mascot for the Rugby World Cup 2015.

Speaking to AboutMyArea/NN12 Chris Harry of the Towcestrians Mini and Junior's said, "We heard in the week that Rory Hammond from the Under 11s will be an official mascot for the Rugby World Cup, getting on the pitch at the Scotland v Japan game.

"He had to send a video audition as it mentions below, judged by Jason Robinson and Lewis Moody.

Writing to Rory Land Rover the sponsors said, "Firstly, on behalf of everyone at Land Rover, thank you very much for auditioning to become an Official Mascot for Rugby World Cup 2015.

"Over the past year, we have received thousands of fantastic auditions from all around the globe, making it an incredibly tough job for our two judges, Rugby World Cup winners Jason Robinson and Lewis Moody. But after careful deliberation and some tough decisions, they have now made their decision on who will be offered a role as a mascot to lead a team out at Rugby World Cup 2015.

"It therefore gives me great delight in being able to tell you that you have been chosen as one of our lucky winners.

"Jason and Lewis were incredibly impressed by the passion and energy you demonstrated in your audition and are sure that you will do a fantastic job as an Official Rugby World Cup 2015 Mascot.

"As well as leading a team onto the field, you will also get to watch the match from the stands with two family members of friends."
