Lutterworth 42 - 36 Towcestrians

Towcestrians narrowly missed out in this see-saw game of eleven tries, Tows playing in the last league fixture of the season took the home side close but Tows high penalty count ultimately undid them.

Tows conceded a penalty in the first minute in front of their own posts, kicked by Lutterworth, and a converted try soon followed to go ten points down, Tows responded after kicking a penalty to the corner, the resulting line out allowed the ever busy Tom Threlfall to scamper over, James Falvey adding the extras, Tows were soon on the scoreboard again, Falvey running back a defensive kick, releasing Pepe Nanci who outpaced the cover for a score, Falvey again adding the extras. Lutterworth responded with a penalty to close the gap to a single point at 13 - 14

Tows again went on the offensive, creating several chances that they failed to finish and it was Lutterworth who showed them how when their powerful forwards battered their way over for a home score, an uncharacteristic error from Tom Threlfall then let in the home side for a soft score but he immediately redeemed himself finishing wide out to end the half with Tows 27 - 19 behind.

A third penalty for Lutterworth, following a yellow card to Callum Threlfall, swung things in the home sides favour and when their pack pushed over for a score the game looked lost for Tows at 35 - 19, Threlfall returned to the field and his redemption act was to crash over and when Ben Barwell also went over from scrum half Tows were back in it at 35 - 31, but with a telling penalty kick to touch failing to find its mark, Lutts ran the ball back for a telling converted try, Tows ran the ball in the closing minutes and were rewarded with a score from Rob Lees in an entertaining end to the league campaign which saw Tows with 13 wins and 13 losses and a mid table finish of 7th

Tows 2's faired better against Lutterworth 2's coming out 33 - 34 winners and were back in action last night (Tuesday) under the lights of Greens Norton Road as they took on National 2 side Hinckley 2nds in the semi-final of the Midlands Reserve League Cup, Tows produced a brilliant display to progress to the final 16 - 5

Tows 1st XV meanwhile can look forward to their last game of the season, the Alliance Cup Final at Franklins Gardens next Wednesday evening.
