Towcester Beer Festival is going to be even bigger this year
Towcester Beer Festival will be bigger than ever this year – running for three days and with 60 real ales and 30 real ciders.
It takes place over the first May bank holiday, opening at 5pm on Friday May 4 and closing at 10pm on Sunday May 6.
The festival will showcase breweries in Northamptonshire with beers coming from around Towcester, Litchborough, Northampton, Kettering and Guilsborough.
There will also be beers from just over the county border but this year the organisers are throwing the net even wider.
Joint organiser Crispin Slee said: “We want to build on the success of last year by offering even more ales this year and going further afield to find them.
“We’re currently undertaking the strenuous task of deciding which beers will be in the final 60.
“People can also suggest their own favourite ales and ciders via our Facebook page. We’ll do our best to oblige.”
Towcester Beer Festival is now in its third year. It takes place at Towcestrians RFC in Greens Norton Road, Towcester.
Entry is free and there will be live music all weekend, Ghurka curry, hog roast, live rugby, kids entertainment and the annual tug-o-war for the Roy Wilson Cup.
Last year, more than 2,000 people flocked to the event and drunk the festival dry, downing 2,880 pints of real ale and 792 pints of cider.
The local breweries due to be represented are: Whittlebury Brewery; Great Oakley Brewery in Tiffield; Hoggleys in Litchborough; Frog Island in Northampton; Potbelly Brewery in Kettering; and Nobby’s Brewery in Guilsborough.
