The evening’s programme has been specially selected by TCS Musical Director, Helen Swift, and will feature Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols.
Towcester Choral Society will be presenting at Towcester Town Hall on Tuesday 10th and Friday 13th December a Festival of Seasonal Music which will include many well known carols and seasonal songs with traditional and modern musical arrangements.
The evening’s programme has been specially selected by TCS Musical Director, Helen Swift, and will feature Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols.
This performance is in celebration of Britten’s centenary year- a musician who is widely regarded as the greatest British composer of his generation; a master of dramatic music in the forms of opera, choral and orchestral works. He was equally adept at writing for professionals, amateurs and children, and composed prolifically throughout his life.
Helen Swift was a choral scholar at Clare College, Cambridge and went on to study opera in London and Dublin. Helen passionately believes in the power of music and particularly singing, and wants people to enjoy themselves in whatever capacity, and if you decide to attend one of the evenings you will be encouraged to join in a number of the carols.
Admission: £9 adults, £4.50 under 16s. Price includes seasonal refreshments.
