Health walks are part of a national initiative, which has been developed locally by South Northamptonshire Council and Northamptonshire PCT and is supported by the Rotary Club of Towcester. The aim is to provide opportunities for people who currently do little or no exercise to take advantage of this free, easy and beneficial activity.
The walks are graded as follows:
- A = steep hills and/ or hills
- B = moderate hills and/ or stiles
- C = gentle hills/ no stiles
- D = flat ground/ no stiles
There is no need to book, just turn up on the day. Each walk varies in time and distance however most walks will last between 30 and 50 minutes.
Walkers should wear loose, comfortable clothing appropriate to the weather and comfortable footwear, such as trainers, walking boots or sturdy flat shoes. Volunteer walk leaders will guide the walks and walkers are invited to join the other walkers and walk leaders for refreshments after the walk.
