Silson Jogger Ross Edmonds with Towcester's Lewis WaresLocal Silson Jogger Ross Edmonds is to run in this year’s London Marathon on the 21st April to raise money for the Lewis Wares appeal.
Five year old Lewis has a condition which presents as diplegic cerebral palsy, which prevents Lewis walking un-aided; he is eligible for a life changing operation in America this summer that with further treatment will give Lewis the chance to walk.
Ross first became aware of Lewis in December of last year following the release of the local school Nickolas Hawksmoor’s Christmas single “Happy Birthday JC”. Ross’s youngest daughter, Rosie, was a member of the “We can do it crew”, a collaboration between Lewis’s sister, Lily, Grandfather, local school children and pop icons Tony Hadley and Paul Young.
Ross said “Having first become aware of Lewis and then meeting him and his Family I felt motivated and inspired not only by the Wares family but the length people from the community were going to in aid of such a great little boy. If I can play a small part by raising more funds to give Lewis the chance to walk I should”.
Last month more than 250 people turned out in hail, rain, sleet and snow to raise more than £3,500 for Lewis, in a 25-hour football extravaganza, run by Towcester Town Football Club, in partnership with South Northants Leisure Trust.
Further events are planned over the coming months to help raise funds for Lewis.
