Neston High School announce "eXL" programme of extended learning for students

Following consultation meetings with parents and staff, the Board of Governors of Neston High School has decided to introduce a new school day structure from September 2009.
The plans to re-organise the School Day have been developed by the Governors and staff of the school in order to allow for an additional hour of "extended learning" (eXL) to be available to all pupils between 3pm and 4pm each day. One of the main reasons for implementation is to ensure that the proposed "eXL" programme can be fully developed to offer a wide range of subjects that will be of interest and benefit to pupils, staff and the wider community.
Assistant Headteacher, Judy Gilmour, who is also responsible for Community Development, is looking into a variety of possibilities to populate the extended programme of enrichment. Whilst the school already has an extensive list of potential subjects and providers of both internal and external origin, Mrs Gilmour is keen to encourage members of the wider community (not just parents and carers of current pupils) to put forward their own ideas for courses, workshops, events and activities that could be presented as options.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, please contact Judy Gilmour on 0151 336 3902, or by email: admin@nestonhigh.cheshire.sch.uk.
Alternatively, post your ideas below this article, as that may well prompt others to put forward their suggestions.
