Cheshire West pupils exceed national average in GCSE English and Maths

Fifty-one per cent of all West Cheshire pupils achieved 5+ A* to C GCSE grades - including English and Maths.

Figures released by the DCSF showed that pupils in the Borough exceeded the national average by an encouraging 1.2%. Neston High School contributed significantly to this, achieving a 100% pass rate.
Over 3,800 teenagers in 19 secondary schools sat the GCSE examinations last year.
Pupils gaining 5+ A* - C grades, without English and Maths, totalled 68% compared to 66% last year across the whole of Cheshire.
Cllr Arthur Harada, Executive Member for Children's Services, said "We congratulate all those pupils and teachers who have worked so hard to achieve these results.
"I can assure parents that their support is absolutely vital and that this authority will give its continued backing to all schools in an attempt to raise standards even further."
