Lynne James, a local mum of three young children, has recently opened a one-stop party shop in the middle of Neston town centre.

Situated in the iconic Tower Building in Parkgate Road, Cakes & Celebrations specialises in a the supply of sugarcraft and cake decorating equipment, as well as offering a bespoke cake-making service and a wide variety of partyware, including helium balloons and filled party bags - taking the stress out of parties for busy parents!

After working for some fourteen years in the events industry, Lynne took a career break to start a family and is now a very busy mum of three children aged 4, 2 and 10 months.  Lynne started making birthday cakes for her own children and word of her talents gradually spread, leading to orders from friends and family. Lynne explains:

"Gradually more and more people came to ask me to make cakes for them, and several said I should be doing this for a living.

"Then I noticed the shop was available. I'm mindful of the opportunities that the new Sainsbury's store will present, and I had concerns about keeping Neston town centre lively given the number of empty shops there are.

"I moved here about 3 years ago and this is where my children will grow up so it's important to me that the area they live in does well. With all this in mind I decided that now was the time to offer something different.

"The party side of the business is offered as a result of me being fed up having to go nearly 10 miles to get a decent choice in children's partyware (and even then you have to stuff the party bags yourself!) Plus the sugarcraft offerings come from my desire to offer ‘something different' and it is a hobby that more and more people are taking up these days."
