Stephen Twigg MP, Shadow Education Secretary, was guest speaker at the branch dinner held by Neston Labour Party last Friday, at Marietos.
Also attending were Andrew Miller MP and a number of councillors from Cheshire West and Chester including Louise Gittins and Andy Williams and Neston Town Councillor Judy Pugh.
This was perhaps the last occasion to be held at Marietos who provided an excellent dinner enjoyed by 50 guests.
Stephen talked about his career, the challenges of being in opposition and, amongst other things, the positive impact that the Sure Start Children's Centres have had on families. This underlined the importance of ensuring that the local Centre in Neston stays open.
Stephen is MP for West Derby, Liverpool and assumed his role as Shadow Secretary of State last October. He was very coy about which football team he supports and admitted he had not yet sampled the delights of Parkgate!
