Spencer Scoops Top Prize at Neston's Fun Dog Show

Spencer, a Lurcher/Whippet cross owned by Gill Morrison, has taken the top prize at this year's Fun Dog Show in Neston.

Gill is the owner of Neston dog walking/sitting business Paws 'n' Claws. Adding to the family pride, her daughter Megan's pug, Mabel, came first in the Cutest Dog category. 

The annual show took place on a rare (for this year) sunny afternoon in Neston's Green Flag Award Winning Stanney Fields Park.

An estimated 200 people turned out to see dogs and owners vying for top honours in categories such as Happiest Dog, Best Junior Handler and Best Puppy.

In the competition, sponsored by Bargain Booze of Little Neston and Neston Pet Supplies, judging duties this year fell to local resident and member of the Friends of Stanney Fields, Yvonne Robinson.

Before the prizes were handed over, the crowd was treated to a dog agility display by members of Sutton Weavers Agility Club, which is part of K9 B.R.A.T.S. (Behaviour, Rehabilitation and Training School).

Winners and Runners Up

Best in Show - Spencer, Lurcher/Whippet cross handled by Gill Morrison.

Reserve - Bella, Labradoodle handled by Molly.

Best Puppy

• 2nd - Poppy (17 wks) - handler: Fern
• 3rd - Belle (15 wks) - handler: Jade & Evie 

Most Handsome Dog

• 1st - Spencer (Lurcher/Whippet cross), handler: Gill
• 2nd - Mikey (Bassett Hound), handler Cathy
• 3rd - Max (Bull Masstiff/Collie cross), handler: Gill

Prettiest Female Dog

• 1st - Esme (Siberian Huskey), handler: Sara
• 2nd - Coco (Beagle), handler: Alison
• 3rd - Suskie (Tibetan Terrier), handler: Sam

Cutest Dog

• 1st - Mabel (Pug), handler: Megan
• 2nd - Holly (mixed breed), handler: Grace
• 3rd - Jade (German Shepherd cross), handler: Lottie

Happiest Dog

• Joint 1st - Saskia (Siberian Husky), handler: Callum (above)
• Joint 1st - Arthur (Staffordshire/Whippet cross), handler: Charlie
• 3rd - Phoenix (Retriever/Poodle cross), handler: Gareth

Best Junior Handler

• 1st - Bella (Labradoodle), handler: Molly, aged 11
• 2nd - Pippa (Cockerpoo), handler: Grace, aged 11
• 3rd - Barney (Cocker Spaniel), handler: Emily, aged 7

Well done to Gill Morrison, owner of Paws 'n' Claws for winning with Spencer for Most Handsome Dog and also for winning the top prize with him! Also for her daughter Megan winning with Mabel for Cutest Dog. Clearly a great advert for her company and services!!

Myself and mikey (the basset hound) had a lovely day on saturday. But i have noticed everyone else who was a winner or runner up has the
handlers name next to they dog apart from mikey?? Is the any chance you could add my name to this article. thanks cathy and mikey.
