Neston Police Update

Published: 15th October 2012 09:03

The latest update from Inspector Brian Green of Ellesmere Port and Neston policing unit.

Cheshire PoliceOfficers are continuing with increased patrols as part of Operation GAUZE over the forthcoming weeks as part of our strategy to manage the increased risk of incidents involving Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) at this time of year. Officers and PCSOs will patrol areas which have been identified as "Hotspots" during the evening periods.

Burglary/Theft

Between 16:00on 3rd & 17:00 on 5th October at Christchurch, Neston Rd, unknown force entry to shed attached to church by attacking lock. Two petrol mowers stolen.

On 3rd October at Methodist Church, Park Street, Neston, two suspected known females stole a bottle of soap from the wash room.

On 3rd October at Chesworth Farm, Burton - Theft of wheelie and recycling bins - male in a Blue Transit van responsible.

An increase in bike thefts has been highlighted in the Neston/ Ellesmere Port areas. Enquiries were made and it was identified that very few stolen bikes are recovered and returned to owners.

In an attempt to reduce thefts, and increase the chance of identifying stolen bikes and returning them to rightful owners, Operation TEMPE has been started.

The Operation has two objectives, those being Crime Prevention, and Crime Detection.

Nearly 200 bikes were recorded as stolen in the areas from 01/01/12 until 31/07/12, of those only 8 had frame numbers listed. To try and tackle this problem the main local Cycle shops have been contacted and agreed to work with Police in recommending bike owners register their bikes with a website called www.immobilise.com. This website has a sister website which is fully searchable by Police Forces country wide. Anything with a serial number can be recorded on this site, FREE and therefore searched for when recovered by Police.

With Christmas fast approaching - purse dipping becomes a regular problem for Cheshire Police. We therefore want to remind the public that if you carry a bag it is important that you place valuable items at the bottom and if possible wear a shoulder strap across your chest, always keep it zipped up and never hang or leave your bag in a shopping trolley or unattended.

Vehicle Crime

There has been a spate of theft of number plates recently - it is possible to purchase special fittings from motor accessory stores that prevent removal by thieves - which they then go on to use to commit further crimes.

In the car do not leave valuables or equipment on display - take them with you or lock them away. Even a pair of sunglasses on display or the mark on the window from your Sat Nav holder can be appealing for a would be thief.

There appears to be an increase in Motor Bikes being ridden illegally even though we have a designated moto cross track at Shellway Road in Ellesmere Port. Anyone with information as to where these bikes are being stored is asked to let the Police know on 101 or speak to your local officer so we can put a STOP to this Anti Social Behaviour.

Drugs

Please be vigilant and report ANY suspicious activity to the Police.

Anti Social Behaviour (ASB)

With Halloween and Bonfire Night approaching this is a very busy time for Cheshire Police in Ellesmere Port & Neston. However we want to reassure the public that although we want everyone to enjoy themselves and be safe, at the same time we WILL NOT tolerate ASB and all perpetrators will be dealt with.

Remember the definition of ASB is "behaviour likely to cause alarm, harassment or distress to members of the public not of the same household as the perpetrator".

"DON'T PUT UP WITH IT REPORT IT".

TO CONTACT THE POLICE CALL THE NON EMERGENCY NUMBER 101. IN AN EMERGENCY ALWAYS DIAL 999.
