Once again The Rotary Club of Neston are the local organisers and hosts for this year's Technology Tournament.
Some of the successful students at the 2012
Technology Tournament.
This will be the fifth year that they have run the Tournament which attracts large numbers of pupils from local schools.
Schools are invited to enter teams of four pupils in each of the following age categories Foundation (Key Stage 3 - ages 11-14), Intermediate (Key Stage 4 - ages 15-16 and Advanced (Key Stage 5 - ages 16+). This year the event has attracted eighteen entries ( 7 Foundation, 7 Intermediate and 4 Advanced).
Schools are advised to select their teams carefully as the tasks they are presented with are based on engineering and scientific principles and each team has a problem to solve.
Teams of Judges (educationalists, engineers and scientists) will assess each team on the basis of their planning and teamwork, design analysis, design development, a portfolio which presents a visual record of the above and whether they can demonstrate that they have solved the problem.
All this they do in less than a day!
The event organiser and District Co-ordinator is Professor David Brigden and the Chief Judge Mr Bob Muirhead, both of The Rotary Club of Neston and they will be welcoming teams to compete at Neston High School, Raby Road, Neston on Friday 8th March 2013.
