Evening Bus From Chester to Neston Gives Commuters a Lifeline

Neston residents needing to travel by bus home from work in Chester have been given a lifeline today.
Recent changes to the Avon bus service 22 had shocked regular users as they were left with no route home from late afternoon onwards.
The issue was aired at the most recent meeting of the CH64 Transport Group, attended by officers from Cheshire West and Chester Council.
A spokesperson for the relevant department said today: "Having considered the matter, we are able to offer a replacement journey at 1810 from Chester (Foregate Street stop F outside Boots) to Neston and the route can be flexible to serve points in between.
"We have been able to do this by arranging for one of the Council's own Shuttle buses coming from Deeside Industrial Park into Chester to extend to Neston, Mondays to Fridays.
"The new journey will operate for a 3 month experimental period as from Monday 13th May and the fare will be a flat rate of £2.50 or £15 for a 'ten trip ticket', available from the driver.
"Passengers need to book in advance. It is possible to book on the day, before 5pm, but availability will be dependent on capacity. Regular workers can also 'block book' and they will be listed for the days they request until such time as they cancel.
"The number to call is: 01244 973039."
Neston Ward Councillor Andy Williams said: "This is good news. It's only a partial reprieve but it shows that the CH64 Transport Group gives bus users a voice and does get listened to."
