New Pavilion Now Open at Neston Cricket Club

Neston Cricket Club (NCC) took the opportunity of the Annual Town Meeting this week to thank Neston Town Council for their grant towards the cost of building a new pavilion building at the sporting venue located in Parkgate.
With over thirteen hundred members, many of whom are juniors, the new pavilion provides changing areas with toilets and showers to complement the existing facilities in the clubhouse and a spectacular rooftop viewing area for spectators.
Club Chairman Andy Wallis explained: "The development is a response to a significant increase in sports activity at NCC. Much of this is down to the success of the new astro turf pitch completed in 2009 but also the Club's commitment to investment in improvements to its other sports facilities (for example new lighting for tennis courts and new cricket nets).
"This increase has, on occasions, overwhelmed the limited changing facilities provided in the Clubhouse. The pavilion replaces an old wooden structure and provides a standalone facility located next to the outdoor sports facilities it will serve and so will be especially valuable to all the hockey and cricket players using the astro and cricket pitches and also Neston Nomads Football Club who regularly hire the all weather pitch for training purposes."
The new pavilion, designed by local architect Simon Almond, is a simple but elegant structure comprising two changing areas with toilets and showers, each having dry changing space of 21m2 with bench space for 15 people and kit storage, four showers with drying zone and one toilet with wash handbasin.
A separate toilet for users with a mobility handicap is provided directly off the entrance lobby. The entrance area also includes a small area to locate hot and cold drinks facilities.
Stairs lead from the entrance to a flat roof which provides a viewing area for up to 75 people. A gullwing, open roof structure will offer some protection from the elements In addition, ground level viewing facilities will also be provided to astro and cricket pitches.
Work started on the new pavilion in early July 2012 and it was made available for use in late March this year. It is already proving to be a great success. Some final fit-out items are due to be completed this month.
