Cheshire Police ask - New Year, New Challenge?

Published: 2nd January 2014 11:22

Cheshire Constabulary has launched their latest Special Constabulary recruitment campaign - by calling on people to take on a new challenge this year, and become a volunteer police officer.

Cheshire Police ask - New Year, New Challenge? The New Year heralds new challenges and if you have made a new year's resolution to give something back and help others, becoming a Special Constable might be exactly what you are looking for.

The Special Constabulary is a force of trained volunteers who play a crucial role in fighting crime and making our streets safer. They work in partnership with regular officers to assist in solving local policing problems, perform policing duties at events and provide public reassurance in towns and villages across Cheshire.

Special Constables come from all walks of life. They have the drive and determination to devote some of their free time to working with the police to improve the quality of their communities.

Special Constables have the same powers as regular officers and they are issued with full uniform and the same range of equipment.

In return for their commitment, a minimum of 17 hours a month, a Special Constable receives first class training, support and becomes a vital member of the Police family. Special Constables are not paid for their time but they do receive agreed travelling and out of pocket expenses.

Cheshire Constabulary will be holding three Special Constabulary awareness seminars to provide those interested in joining with more information on the role.

The first will be held at the Riverside College in Widnes on 16th January, the second at their Headquarters in Winsford on 21st January and the third on 23rd January at the University of Chester campus in Warrington.

To register for one of these seminars, or find our more about becoming a Special Constable, please visit the Cheshire Police Website jobs page or use the following link to get to the Special Constabulary pages: www.cheshire.police.uk/jobs/special-constables.aspx.
