Glittering Trees Welcome in the Christmas Season in Willaston
Published: 2nd December 2014 09:22 |
Over the last weekend of November, Willaston Festival Society and Christ Church jointly hosted a Community Christmas Tree Festival, with proceeds from the festival equally shared.
Willaston Rangers - with home made fairies and baubles in the
rangers' colours.
Christmas trees were installed around the Church, decorated by different community groups and businesses for people to come and view. The 4 foot and 5 foot high trees were provided at a generous discount by Gordale Nurseries. A silent auction allowed people the opportunity to bid to take a tree home.
Sarah Shannon, Chair of Willaston Festival Society, said: "Thank you to everyone who took part in the Christmas Tree Festival and to everyone who came along.
"The display of trees was wonderful and reflected the organisations involved really well."
The winners of the auction for the trees were:
2nd Willaston Brownies - Joan Butcher who bid £35;
1st Willaston Rangers - Sarah Rennison who bid £35;
Willaston Hey WI - Anne and Keith O'Connor who bid £60;
Willaston Rainbows - Charles Pickering who bid £50;
Gordale - Charles Hurst who bid £30;
Willaston Barber Shop - Richard Dutton who bid £30;

Style and Beauty tree - celebrating 25 years in the village with baubles representing existing customers and fairies those who have passed away.
Willaston Barber Shop - with ‘baubles' shaped like moustaches, cut throat razors and scissors.
