Neston Charity Little Actors & InterACT Youth Theatre have been recognised at Cheshire West Community and Voluntary Arts Awards.
Joshua Stevens and Samantha Giblin attended
the Awards event.
They were nominated by Cllr Nicole Meardon in the Children and Youth Art category. The panel acknowledged their work as 'Highly Commended.'
At the ceremony held at Chester Town Hall the citation read: 'Little Actors Theatre was set up and developed over a period of 22 years by professional actor Samantha Giblin. For nine years now the Little Actors Theatre has had a Neston base. Its main aim is to ensure there is affordable access to professionally-led performing arts for children and young people of all ages. Subsidies are available to ensure inclusion as well as actively encouraging young people with physical and/or learning difficulties. They offer access to professionally led performing arts for those from 2 ½ years up to school leavers and about 60 young people are involved every week. They have strong Community involvement and believe that this is achieved by participating in community events in Neston and the surrounding area. We are pleased to highly commend their work.'
The evening was hosted by CWVAN Chairman David Woods and the awards were presented by the Lord Mayor of Chester and Chairman of CW&C Council, Cllr Bob Rudd. The winner in the Children and Youth Art category was Action Transport Theatre.
The event was attended by Artistic Director Samantha Giblin and eleven year old Joshua Stevens who is a member of InterACT Youth Theatre. He has been with Little Actors since he was two, moving up and progressing through each age group. Samantha and Joshua were pleasantly surprised and delighted that LATC's work was acknowledged in this way and they accepted the certificate on behalf of all the professional facilitators, children, young people and volunteers involved with the LATC charity in Neston.
