Vote for the Woodfall Duck!

Published: 16th September 2015 09:12

Rotakids at Woodfall Primary School in Neston have their very own duck in the Countess of Chester Hospital Duck Race this year.

Vote for the Woodfall duck!

The hospital's Babygrow Appeal is the Rotakids' chosen charity this year, raising funds currently for a new neonatal unit.

Woodfall Primary School's Mrs Watkins said: "We are taking part in the duck race on the river Dee, Chester, on Saturday Septmber 19th.

"Lots of businesses have bought ducks for £200 - one was donated to our school. They are all decorated ready for the race and are on the Countess' fundraising Facebook page. The duck with the most 'likes ' before the race wins a prize.

"The children and parents have drummed up over a thousand likes but we are still in 2nd place! We are the only local school taking part, and it's a great cause."

So, if you are on Facebook, please do go and give the Woodfall duck your thumbs up - every 'like' helps!

The ever popular duck race itself returns to the Dee on 19th September - come along to watch the amazing sight of thousands of yellow, pink and blue ducks racing on the river. The event opens from 12 noon, when you'll be able to view the corporate ducks, take part in the colouring competition, and buy your duck. Races start from 3pm, with the corporate duck race followed by Baby Ducks - prizes for the Baby Ducks race are vouchers to spend at Grosvenor Shopping Centre to the value of £250, £150 and £100 respectively.
