Two Mills Junction Repairs - Update
Published: 28th January 2016 13:00 |
Frustrated motorists have been caught in traffic gridlock at peak times this week, due to repairs taking place at Two Mills junction on the A540 between Chester and Neston.
The repairs to traffic lights on the junction of the A540 and A550 have led to huge delays for drivers. On behalf of our readers, we made enquiries this morning to Cheshire West and Chester Council's Highways Department.
A spokesperson for CWAC said: "These lights are the responsibility of Highways England and as a result we can do nothing to influence them to make a repair any faster.
"However, both myself and Cheshire Police have spoken to Highways England to insist on them having the signals manually controlled at peak times and they do seem to have taken this on board, as this was the case this morning."
FURTHER UPDATE: I've mentioned this in the comments section below, but the latest from Highways England is that a road traffic accident on Monday involving the lights at the junction means they need to be completely replaced. These are not kept in stock, so the agency has to wait for delivery. They should have a better idea of what the timescale will be early next week.
