Police have received a report of a male purporting to be from "the Water Board" and requesting access to a resident's property in Neston, so that he could inspect a man-hole.
.The male was described as white, of stocky build and he wore a red top with orange details on. No vehicle was seen.
Fortunately the resident was suspicious and only spoke to him through a porch door.
Cheshire Police advise never to let unknown people into your home. Always ask for identification and if you are at all unsure , ask them to call back at a later date - a genuine caller will understand. Inform a neighbour or a friend so that they can be with you.
Suspicious activity should be reported to the police by calling the non-emergency number, 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency.
