Neston Police Remind Drivers Not to Use Mobile Devices When Driving

Sgt Daniel Greenhalgh of Neston's policing unit has added his voice to calls for motorists to heed new legislation over the use of mobile phones in vehicles.
From March 2017, motorists who are caught using handheld mobile devices while driving will face double the penalty - rising to £200 and six penalty points.
Under the new rules, offending drivers will no longer be offered the opportunity to complete the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) training course as an alternative to receiving points on their license. Young motorists will feel the force of the new legislation the most, as those who have passed their tests within the past two years now at risk of having their driving license revoked following their first offence.
Sgt Greenhalgh said: "I don't want to see anyone injured or killed as a result of a driver using a mobile phone. I also don't want to see a driver go to prison after causing a fatality because they were using a mobile phone whilst driving. Sadly, it happens. Please don't let it be you.
"My team and the wider LPU officers will be actively supporting this campaign locally, enforcing the law against drivers who ignore mobile phone legislation which is there to keep us all safer on the roads."
