Get Ready for Neston Music Festival
Published: 9th April 2018 10:26 |
Neston Music Festival gets off to a great start on Saturday 14 April with the renowned Brownfield-Byrne Hot Six.
This youthful talented band has a huge following and it is something of a coup to get them to open the festival.
The band play a truly accessible form of traditional jazz appealing to a wide variety of tastes. Their original sound is still inspired by the swing era stylists of the late 1930s and early 40s, the 'Hot Six' performs music by the likes of Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Fats Waller, early Duke Ellington and the John Kirby sextet.
Clive Edwards, concert organiser for sponsors Neston Civic Society says, "The wonderful arrangements by Liam Byrne recreate, in the band's own style, the feel of the greats from Louis and Bix, Duke Ellington, Count Basie through to Fats Navaro, and they love New Orleans street music."
Tickets are selling fast but some are still available from My Gift Place, 29 High St, Neston or 0151 336 1190.
The following week sees Deva Brass performing at Neston Methodist Church at 7.30 on Friday 20th April (£5 pay at the door) and the annual Mersey Morris Men's Ceilidh at 8pm on Saturday 21st at Neston Civic Hall (£13, including fish and chips, from 0151 347 1685).
