Five More Arrested Over Neston Town Centre Fight

Published: 25th May 2018 16:38

Five more men, all from Neston, have now been arrested in relation to an incident last weekend.

The men - two 24-year-olds and an 18-year-old, a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old - have been arrested on suspicion of affray. They have all been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

The incident took place around 10pm on Saturday 19th May in Neston town centre and involved a group of males fighting.

The incident started outside the Greenland Fisheries and moved down Parkgate Road.

Earlier this week two men were charged in connection with the affray: David Walker, 51, of Spenser Road, Neston, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Jake Walker, 23, of Mayfield Gardens, Neston, has been charged with affray and possession of a bladed article.

They appeared at Chester Magistrates' Court on 22 May where they were remanded in custody. The pair are next due to appear at Chester Crown Court on 16 June 2018.

Sgt Lisa Wilson said: "Were you in Parkgate Road, Neston around 10pm on Saturday 19th May? Ellesmere Port Detectives are appealing for witnesses following reports of a fight where weapons were used. If you can help please contact 101 and quote IML 68951."

I do think it is likely to happen again, the town has gone drastically downhill over the last yr or so and half the problem is the locals bury their heads on the sand or get angry when you tell them realistically how bad things are. Sad state of affairs going round the place with guns and knives and glad ive recently left :)

And how much was the ticket to Nirvana, Gaynor? Seriously, where have you found to live that has no trouble, whatsoever?

People really need to get things in perspective. You say 'Sad state of affairs going round the place with guns and knives...' As far as I can see in the article above it's one gun, one knife, two idiots. Compared with the numerous stabbings, shootings and other incidents of note in London recently, Neston is hardly a hotbed of criminal activity.

Sadly there are idiots in every area.

“..it's one gun, one knife, two idiots…”

What is the number at which you would be concerned? Two guns, two knives, four idiots, six, eight?

It is often said perception is reality and my perception is we have lost a great deal of policing over the last year or two, and not just the increasingly poor response service but the impression is we have lost the local ‘community intelligence’ led service that often, or so it appeared, nipped problems before they got this serious.

I am probably wrong, I am often enough, but as stated this is my perception and hence my reality.

I am totally right and yes wherewe are now actually has people who are likable. I don't have a ticket for nirvana lol as Kurt cobain is actually dead and I'm not into watching fake acts thanks :) Neston has problems that the locals don't like to listen to but burying your head in the sand doesn't do anyone any good

It is simply unacceptable behaviour in our village.

Tim Wright, Could not agree more.

Neston is Utopia for me. Even with the isolated incidents of madness.

Compared to the places I have lived in the past and work in on a regular basis, its a joy living in CH64.

Neston was a complete mistake for us the whole place has just gone downhill. Ive lived down south the midlands and here on the Wirral and Neston is too clicky for its own good. The people are insular and don't accept new comers and yes I expect people to say ohh nooo you cant say that but I just have. Bring back the banks get rid of the attitude and people may not move away.

Completely disagree with everything you have said Gaynor. You may want to take a mirror and reflect that post on your self as the issue?

Don't even use banks anymore and they seem to make decent pizza restaurants

Is there a forum for the town you have moved to? You could use that to make friends and influence people now.

You can leave this site and the horror of Neston behind you.

CO, you took the words right out of my mouth. If someone dislikes the place so much, strange how they can't stay away from its forum.

I too have lived in many places around the UK but have never felt more welcome than here. A great community, which weathers the problems all other towns share, with great equanimity.

Actually I've only recently moved and haven't had time to cancel notifications from. My email account. I must say myself and my family have already had help. From the locals the day we moved in offering to lend a hand far better than your wonderful graceful town where only a few yes back we were told to move the van as it was blocking their extremely narrow road full of cars on grass verges and pavements despite knowing I was moving in. Basically you can take your town and make with it what you like which will be more violence and more discusting yobs tatty byeee

Carrie,

Is there any way you can ban the IP address of the sender of that last comment which thankfully was quickly deleted?

Having said that I was really worried about a fight I saw last night outside tesco, two guys and a girl screaming. We stopped the car as I couldn't just watch someone getting a beating, but he got free and ran into the fisheries then the other guy turned away, no idea what that was about but it was scary. Need to nip it in the bud before things do get out of hand

OK guys, cool it now please. I've deleted the last few comments as they do not serve any particularly useful purpose and are bordering on breaching our usually fairly loose guidelines. In other words, as my lovely Mum used to say - 'if you've got nothing good to say, say nothing.'
