This year's Neston Music Festival is set to be every bit as successful as last year's, the organisers believe.
Opening this year's Neston Music Festival - Birkenhead Operatic.
It opens on Friday 26th April with Birkenhead Operatic's "West End Songbook" at Parkgate & Neston United Reformed Church on Parkgate Road, with Neston Town Mayor Cllr Pat Kynaston doing the official honours, and closes on Friday 25th May with the Original Panama Jazz Band performing at the Civic Hall.
"We've tried to provide a wide variety of attractions, again featuring musicians not usually heard in Neston," says former Town Mayor Pat Hughes, this year's chairman of the organising group"
This year's attractions include:
- popular classics provided by Wirral Baroque Players, Laura Jellicoe and Paul Janes, Port Sunlight Orchestra and Ivory Winds,
- innovative music groups FB Pocket Orchestra, Opera Dudes, Handbag of Harmonies,
- big band music from the Northern Rhythm Big Band,
- more jazz from Sue Reid and Friends and Dale Starr,
- and again, regional finalists of the Rotary Young Musician of the year and lunchtime recitals from teenage organists.
"Whilst marketing costs are met by the Town Council, it's local volunteers from the sponsors* who do all the organising," says Pat Hughes. "Last year we had to turn away some people who had failed to buy tickets, so my advice is to get yours as soon as possible."
