Early Bird Service on 272 Bus to Resume

Published: 27th October 2020 07:36

A revision of the timetable for the 272 bus route serving Neston to Ellesmere Port via Willaston and the Hooton Merseyrail Station sees the early morning service reinstated by operator Aintree Coachline.

Aintree Coachline

With effect from Monday 2nd November, the 07:50 service from Neston will be running, which is good news for those accessing work or education in Ellesmere Port as well as commuters using Hooton Station for trains to Chester and Liverpool.

The new timetable can be downloaded here.

With Neston in Tier 2 restrictions relating to Covid-19, the current advice is to avoid public transport if possible, but if you do need to travel, wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

II use this service several times a week for work. Having first seen this article when it was first published at the end of October I asked the drivers to confirm this and showed them the article. They however knew nothing of the changes and have since been told by the owner that their hours remain the same. Their understanding is that the service continues as at present . ie with the first from Neston being 9 10 am and the last from Ellesmere Port being 4 00 pm.
Presumably the information came from the company itself? Seems bizarre to print a new timetable and promote its benefits to commuters if it's not going going to materialise? No wonder that the local community who rely on public transport are disheartened. Can you check this out with the owners please Carrie or Councillor Louise Gittins??

I've heard back from John Ellis-Jones, from Cheshire West's transport and infrastructure team. He says that the service is in fact running, that the Council has supplied paper timetables to the company which should now be carried on the bus. He has also spoken to his contact at the bus company in person and been assured that it is running as planned. If a driver tells you otherwise again, could you please email me with their name/bus reg number, so I can feed that back to John? carriespacey@aboutmyarea.co.uk. Thank you.
