Flood Alert for Puddington Residents

There is a flood alert in place for residents of Puddington, meaning preparations are required.

It appears that the council have no spare sandbags and are managing a queue for areas/people in need.

Could the bus stop in Puddington be used to store sand bags going forwards, if residents are able to source them privately?

Water pumps are in use in the area, where available, to pump water away from the houses and in to the fields.

It's worth knowing that there is zero provision for sandbags to be provided to home owners from local authorities.

The council workers will use sand bags to try and divert flood water as effectively as they can to reduce the risk to people and property but it is not their remit to provide to home owner's.

The Environment Agency use theirs to reinforce river banks and flood defence structures.

If you live in an area where flooding is even a remote possibility then holding a stash of sand bags somewhere and flood boards for doors and gates is probably an essential consideration.
