Dee-lightful New Eatery Will Put Parkgate on the Map

Published: 1st April 2019 07:30

Since the arrival of the first Elephant six years ago, Neston has established itself as a firm foodie favourite destination, thanks to an influx of new cafés, restaurants and bars.

The WarrenThe Warren, on the Parade - soon to be home to the Dee-Constructed Café

Our local passion for food is shortly taking another exciting step, with the launch of an innovative and original concept restaurant: Parkgate's very own Dee-Constructed Café, to be located in a former detached residential property on the Parade, known as ‘The Warren’.

Named for its proximity to the Dee estuary, as well as for its original approach to serving refreshments, this brand new eatery is sure to become a must-visit for foodies throughout the local area and beyond.

Explaining the concept behind Dee-Constructed, owner Alan Chestnut told AboutMyArea: "There is a national, if not worldwide, trend towards people wanting to know exactly what goes into the food they eat and the beverages they consume.

"We are aiming to make that as transparent as possible, by inviting our customers to put their own meals together at the table. They can literally see every single ingredient, right in front of them, and be absolutely sure there are no additives or ingredients they may be sensitive to.

"My wife and I came up with this concept after travelling widely both at home and abroad and feeling uneasy that we couldn't really see what was in the food we were consuming. With the Dee-Constructed Café, those doubts are removed, leaving the way clear to simply enjoy the dee-licious food – and why risk someone else preparing your meal, when you can prepare it exactly the way you like it? To be honest, we’re amazed no-one else has come up with the idea before – we are just thankful that we thought of it first.

"With the added bonus of a fabulous view across the marshlands, we think Parkgate is definitely the right place for us to be."

Asked whether there are simply too many new food outlets in the local area for yet another to be sustainable, Mr Chestnut replied: "We are confident that the Neston area is ready for something completely new. People who live here embrace change and progress with open arms, so we believe we are onto a winner."

The new restaurant, which launches its online presence at midday on Monday 1 April, is scheduled to open late summer 2019. AboutMyArea looks forward to visiting the Dee-Constructed Café to try some of the dee-lights pictured in this article.

P.S....thank you to everyone for joining in the fun (especially on our Facebook page). This was, of course, our April Fool's Day article for this year.  If you'd like to see our previous efforts, click here.

Elephant Collective also ran a convincing story on their social media feeds - announcing the upcoming opening of an Elephant Smokehouse and Sports Bar in the old Lodestar pub.  Many locals expressed their wish that it was true!

There was also a claim on the Friends of Lees Lane Ponds' facebook page that the council had demanded the main pond be moved 50ft back from the road

How totally ridiculous.

Its like that Elephant Bar in Parkgate - I went in there recently and they don't even serve Elephant. False advertising or what !
