In her latest blog, Cllr Gittins has 'a nice cup of tea.'

During the last 4 years as a Councillor I've visited many community groups and two of my regular haunts have been the Knit and Knatter Group in Little Neston and the Tea Pot in Neston. Both of them have received money from my Members' Budget.

I was at the Tea Pot this week and after having a lovely cup of tea and a good old chat and a laugh with some of the regulars there, I thought I would let other people know about the good work that goes on at the Tea Pot.

The Tea Pot is located in the Methodist Church & Community Centre in Neston, it's open Monday and Wednesday mornings between 9 and 12. Pat Englert, who helped to set it up 22 years ago, explained that it is a 'place for people who live on their own to go to, to meet people, have a cup of tea and a tea cake and to go on trips'.

Pat showed me the list of trips this year : including in June to Bets y Coed and Maenan Abbey, in August to Bridgemere Garden Centre and Plas Hafod and finally a Christmas trip to Tweedmill and Llandudno and back to Maenan Abbey for lunch. The trips cost £20 but that includes the bus and a fantastic looking three course meal.

Pat runs the Teapot with Gwen Young, June Laird and Barbara Griffin. They also have other helpers and I met Joan Voce.

Pat and the team make sure there's lots of local information available and have arranged for a PCSO to have a drop in session there every 3 weeks. These ladies work tirelessly to keep it running and it's a lifeline for members of our community. I'd also like to say a big thank you to the regulars who went out and walked the local streets to get signatures for the recent bus petition.

It is a lovely friendly, cozy and warm place to go and I would recommend any one to try it out. Please spread the word.
