The traffic came to a halt in Willaston as veterans, local dignitaries and over 80 Brownies, Guides, Cub Scouts, Scouts and their Leaders took part in the Remembrance Sunday parade.
The route took them from the Royal British Legion through the village to the War Memorial in the grounds of Christ Church, where the Royal British Legion Standard and the Guide and Scout flags took their place to lead those assembled in the two minutes silence.
Poppy wreaths were laid by Mr Richard Berry, Branch Chairman of the Royal British Legion Willaston-in-Wirral Branch, Councillor Myles Hogg, the Royal Navy Association and representatives from the Women's Institute and the Girl Guide and Scout Associations.
The Remembrance Service was held in Christ Church conducted by Rev.R.W.Dent B.A. and Dr.P. Levitt MPhil with everyone being invited to return to the Royal British Legion for refreshments and to toast Her Majesty the Queen.
