A taste of Coronation Street came to Neston last Saturday when Ladson Group welcomed the actor William Roache to launch the grand opening of its latest development.
William is the last remaining original cast member of the long-running soap and plays much-loved character, Ken Barlow.
Over 70 guests were treated to champagne and canapés following the official opening ceremony and the entertainment ended with a firework finale in the grounds of the former police station in Hinderton Road. Many guests remarked on how friendly and approachable Willam was at the event, posing for photographs and chatting easily with attendees.
Saturday's event was the culmination of a two year project which has seen the landmark 1930s building lovingly restored and enhanced and given a new lease of life as ‘Renaissance Neston'. The development consists of 42 one and two-bedroom luxury apartments created exclusively for plus 55s.
During William's official speech, he confirmed how impressed he was with the calibre of Ladson's latest development. He commented, ‘The standard of finish, specification and quality are superb and the family run team at Renaissance are providing exemplary homes for the over 55 age group'
The locally-listed building has made a significant contribution to the identity of Neston since its original opening in 1939. Since then the site, covering just over an acre, has played home to the neo-Georgian police station, scientific support unit as well as two police houses, two courts and further support buildings.
Director, Ashley Ladson, comments, ‘We are really excited to have finished Renaissance in time to celebrate the 70th anniversary of this historic building with both potential purchasers and the local community. Neston has welcomed the restoration of this much-loved building and we are pleased to be able to return the hospitality shown to us. Having William here to celebrate with us is a fantastic way to announce that Renaissance Neston has arrived.'
Located around a central courtyard in landscaped gardens on the leafy Hinderton Road, Renaissance is ideally situated for all local amenities and benefits from outside spaces which have been designed with the same careful attention to detail as the interiors. All of the communal areas are now complete and can be viewed along with both one and two-bedroom luxury apartments.
