Election 'Question Time' in Neston
Published: 3rd May 2010 11:49 |
An election 'Question Time' meeting is taking place on Tuesday 4th May at Neston Cricket Club, starting promptly at 7.30pm.
AboutMyArea/CH64 has organised this public open meeting to give residents an opportunity to ask questions and listen to the responses of the parliamentary candidates for Ellesmere Port & Neston.
The deadline for submitting questions has now passed. The organisers will now sort the questions received into themes, selecting one from each theme to be asked at the event.
Please be aware that the venue holds a maximum of 150 people, so you are advised to be on time if you wish to attend. The doors will close once it is at maximum capacity.
The organisers are extremely grateful to Neston Cricket Club for the use of their newly extended and refurbished function suite as the venue for this key community event.

It sounds like it might be a bit of a show, but at the risk of sounding cynical, probably just that, but worthy enough to attend anyways.
Nobody needs reminding that what politicians say when after a vote, is soon forgotten once they have the job, and they are either powerless in the case of the independents and small parties, or just have to toe the line in the case of the established parties. Perhaps we could record it and play it back to the winner every week during their term of office!
My questions are simple: "While I appreciate MP's operate at a national level, what issues in Neston do they each believe need addressing now, and out of all the promises they make what is their number one priority for the area if elected on May 6th ?"
I also echo the sentiments of John above - this site is not only a great source of local information but allows CH64 residents to voice their opinions, and for that Carrie & Dean deserve our thanks for all their efforts !
It has been alleged that the last Parliament has been the most corrupt since Cromwell who sacked the lot with the words " In the name of God, begone with you" and so say I.
As Blair and Brown have presided during the whole of that time, why should anyone trust and vote Labour again?
In 1997,Blair promised a whiter than white parliament which in his case seems to have meant 'slush white' and not 'snow white' judging by the way he has profited from politics.
Politicians promises are soon forgotten after the election both cast iron and otherwise.
I am particularly annoyed with Mr.Anrew Miller MP who says that his priority is his constituents, yet, out of the last 4000 times he has voted after debates in parliament, only 40 times has he voted against this government which seems very low indeed.
In particular,Mr.Miller signed EDM 1423 supporting faster compensation to Equitable Life pensioners like myself who were badly let down by government maladministration and then he obeys his whipps by voting against the very EDM that he supported.
Personally, that type of MP I can well do without!!
"I regret to have to tell you that Denise Aspinall will be unable to attend the Candidates Question Time at Neston Cricket Club tomorrow.
It is my understanding that the condition of her elderly mother in hospital following a stroke is more serious than originally thought.
Denise is sorry she will not be present since she was looking forward to putting forward the Liberal Democrat policies designed to make Britain fairer and answering voters questions.
Since this is an event designed for candidates, the Liberal Democrats cannot provide a substitute panellist."
We also have apologies from Henry Crocker. However, Andrew Miller, Stuart Penketh and Jonathan Starkey are all attending and we have a wide range of very interesting questions that have been submitted by members of the public. Should be an interesting evening!
"This is the first time in the last 2 days I have been able to access emails. My Mother suffered a stroke on Saturday night and remains in hospital. We, the family, are awaiting the results of a scan to ascertain both cause and effect. I can only apologise for my non attendance at the hustings, which I really was looking forward to. If anyone has any specific questions for me then if they wish to email me I will endeavour to reply before Thursday but obviously given the circumstances I can't promise to do so. Please give those who wish to my denise.epnlibdem@ymail.com address."
I think "aboutmyareaCH64" came to maturity over this last week.
