Have your say on Cheshire rights of way plan

Residents in the Cheshire West area are invited to have their say on how the local countryside is managed. This will be of particular interest to residents in rural and semi-rural areas such as Neston.
New plans being drafted could improve access to green spaces and countryside, easing congestion on the roads in the region and encouraging people to stay fit and healthy.
Cheshire West and Chester Council's draft "Rights of Way Improvement Plan" will assess how the current network is performing, reflecting modern patterns of demand and land use.
It is hoped changes will help visitors and residents alike, including horse riders, cyclists and those with mobility problems.
Cllr Richard Short, CWaC's executive member for culture and recreation, said: "The existing rights of way network dates back hundreds of years and reflects historic patterns of travel to work, school, church and family.
"However it doesn't always cater for modern day demands, such as access to countryside near people's homes, and should benefit other users as well as walkers.
"With this new plan we hope that residents will have their say on their local area and help us to put plans in place over the five years to the benefit of our public rights of way."
The consultation period will run until April 15th. To receive a copy of the plan call the Greenspace Team on 01606 288543 or by email.
The plan can also be viewed at library information points across West Cheshire and online here.
