Marsh Cat Restaurant in Parkgate Launches Appeal to Assist Refugees

Published: 6th September 2015 12:50

On their Facebook page, the Marsh Cat Restaurant has launched an appeal to CH64 residents:

Marsh Cat, ParkgateFollowing the tragic images and news we have encountered this week we feel we would like to do our bit to help the children and families stuck in places like Kos after having to flee their homes due to war.

We have spoken to a charity in Kos who are helping a lot of these children and they are desperate for baby blankets and children's shoes but also the items on the list below.

If you would like to donate we have 4 drop off points:

  • The Marsh Cat, Parkgate, CH64 6SL;
  • Russell Taylor/Recruit Right Head Offices, Bromborough, CH62 3QX;
  • Whitfield Business Hub, Pensby Road, Heswall, CH60 7RJ Contact; Justine;
  • Cafe Rouge, 29 Bridge Street, Chester, CH1 1NG Contact; Lucy.

If you could search your houses for any of the below please drop them off to the above locations during our opening times - it would be greatly appreciated.

We are looking to transport the items once we have a substantial amount to send.

Things needed;

Warm clothing
Shoes/trainers for winter
Blankets
Tents (pop up)
Nappies
Wipes
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Razors
Sanitary towels
Soap
Baby bottles

Thank you so much, we can make a difference!

Meanwhile, Cheshire West and Chester Council issued the following statement on Friday:

Council Leader Samantha Dixon said: "Cheshire West and Chester Council is in discussions with the Government regarding how it can assist in providing humanitarian aid to refugee families.

"With cross-party support, we are actively exploring what level of support and accommodation we may be able to provide within the borough.

"We expect to be in a position to give further details over the coming days."
