Parkgate's Improved Car Park - Fully Open and Free to Use

Working with the local community, Cheshire West and Chester Council has invested in the former Station Road car park in Parkgate.
An additional 20 spaces have been created, improvements made to the landscape and the car park is now safer and more easily accessible and close to all Parkgate has to offer.
The car park was formally opened on 25 October by the Mayor of Neston, Cllr Mike Shipman, alongside Cheshire West's Parkgate ward councillor Martin Barker and school children from Parkgate Primary. It was renamed as Ropewalk car park.
At the opening were Councillors Susan Chambers, Dominic Roberts and Mike Shipman from Neston Town Council, CWAC Ward Councillor Martin Barker, CWAC officers, members of the Parkgate Society Community Spirit team and staff and children from Parkgate Primary School. Louise Irvine from Sainsbury's brought along complementary refreshments.
The re-naming was done following a competition run with children from the school and was chosen because the panel felt Ropewalk linked to the area's heritage.
Over 4,000 bulbs have been planted around the car park by the Parkgate Society Community Spirit team and schoolchildren to give it colour throughout the seasons. Bulbs include daffodils, snow drops and blue bells.
Cllr Barker thanked all those who have contributed to the refurbishment of the car park.
Cllr Martin Barker said: "Thank you to everyone for attending the opening of this newly refurbished Ropewalk car park. A special thanks to the children of Parkgate Primary School for coming up with a name for it and also for taking time out from lessons to help with the bulb planting.
"Also thank you CWAC localities and architectural team for their time and input in making this such an effective and efficient makeover; Neston Town Council, Parkgate Society and CWAC for the funding, Sainsbury's for providing refreshments on the day and finally, Roy Wilson who was team photographer.
"Since the car park became operational in August we have seen more and more people using it. It provides an easy and free parking solution that provides direct access to the Parade, where people can enjoy the sights, birdwatching and great food and drink on offer, as well as the beautiful Wirral Way.
"Parkgate is open to visitors all year round and there is always a warm welcome."
On ribbon-cutting duty, Neston's Mayor, Cllr Mike Shipman, congratulated everyone involved in getting the car park up to such a good standard and declared: "God bless the car park and all who park in it!"
Cllr Mike Shipman, Mayor of Neston, cut the ribbon to declare the Ropewalk car park officially open.
Parkgate Society's Community Spirit team have contributed a great deal of time and effort to the improvements at the car park.
