Local Talent Makes Hip & Harmony's Show a Real Christmas Cracker

The wealth of talent right here in Neston was celebrated on Saturday night at the Hip & Harmony Christmas Cracker show.
MC Elsie Drudge brings the house down with her incomparable compering skills.
It was a night of superb entertainment. Artistic Director of Hip & Harmony CIC, Paula Prytherch, delivered a programme of great artistes, featuring Paul McRae & Karl Parry, Annie Winstanley, the Creaking Gates and Scarlet's Angels, who all brought accomplished performances to the stage, with hilarious compere vignettes in between, from Mrs Elsie Drudge (aka Irene Pugh).
But it was Hip & Harmony's home-grown talents that took the experience to another level. A packed, sold-out Civic Hall delighted in a brilliant performance by the 33-strong Street Dance Crew resplendent in their fabulous costumes created by Claire Danks, choreographed by Emily Walmsley, assisted by Oakleigh Briscoe and Charly Prytherch.
Charly also showed her versatility by performing an excellent duet with guitarist Ben.
64 N'ukes, led by Dave Spinx and Chris Lett, gave us a tremendous rendition of three songs, including a cracking version of Sound of Silence with backing vocals from the Hip & Harmony Community Choir.
Spine-tingling. Hip & Harmony's Community Choir
It was the choir who opened and closed the show, with superb performances featuring beautiful harmonies. The two stand-out highlights being Pamela Button's soulful solo on 'You're All I Need to Get By' and the whole choir's spine-tingling delivery of Christmas classic 'Oh Holy Night.'
Having all this talent in Neston is one thing, bringing it all together is quite another. Take a bow Paula Prytherch and your dedicated team, for proving once and for all that when it comes to entertainment, the key to success is to keep it local.
Proceeds from ticket sales and the raffle will go towards more community-based activities run by Hip & Harmony CIC.
