Lorry Fire Shuts A540 near Mill Lane, Neston

A lorry fire forced the closure of the A540, Chester High Road, near Mill Lane, Neston on Thursday evening (10 January).

Large flames were seen coming from the vehicle involved, an articulated lorry carrying 44 tonnes of frozen food.

The incident closed the westerly lanes on the road between Dunstan Lane and Damhead Lane for several hours, with traffic on the opposite lanes slow throughout that time.  Knock-on effects of the incident were felt on roads around the area.

Three fire engines attended.
