For one lady, Maggie Gwynne, The Wessex Autistic Society's annual Somerley fun run is a chance for her to play a part in raising awareness of autism. Maggie's Sister Barbara has two children, 15 year old Robert and 12 year old Helen, who both suffer with autism.

Basepoint Business Centre, Bournemouth has announced a £10,000 match fund donation for The Wessex Autistic Society's Portfield School. The announcement was made at a ruby-themed coffee morning, which the society hosted at Basepoint's offices in Christchurch.

The Wessex Autistic Society's Anniversary Art Exhibition was held on October 7th at BoConcept, Bournemouth during Autism Awareness Week. The successful exhibition which was part of the charity's Ruby Anniversary Celebrations, showcased work by people with autism in the local area.

Last Christmas, 29 Dorset companies helped to raise £6,000 for The Wessex Autistic Society by giving cash instead of cards. Due to its success in previous years, the Society is now launching the campaign for the 8th year running and is hoping to get at least 40 companies to sign up to tie in with its Ruby Anniversary.

Over 25 volunteers, along with their family members, attended a party thrown by the local disability charity, the Wessex Autistic Society. The event took place at Branksome Dene Community Room to thank them for all their help and hard work at the charity's fundraising events, and to celebrate the Society's Ruby Anniversary.

Basepoint Business Centre Bournemouth has appointed local disability charity The Wessex Autistic Society as its charity for the year. The selection was made due to the proximity of the Basepoint facility at Aviation Park West to the Society's educational facility for children with autism, Portfield School.
