Highbury's Got Talent! Highbury College Launches Summer Roadshows In All-New Talent Tent
Published: 28th July 2014 15:09 |
Talented students from Highbury College will be holding taster sessions across Portsmouth this summer, offering the chance to discover a hidden talent or try a new skill. The Highbury ‘Talent Tent' will be pitching up at festivals, community events and public venues, offering advice on Highbury College courses as well as the chance to win tickets to some of the hottest local festivals.
Visitors will be invited to try their hand at DJ'ing with Music Tech students, spray paint a wall with the Art & Design team, and learn to style vintage hair with Hair & Beauty students, among many other skills. There will also be performances and demonstrations from other subject areas such as Performing Arts and Construction.
Celebrated Portsmouth-based artist My Dog Sighs, whose work has an international following, has created artwork for the roadshows. His interpretation of the roadshow's slogan, "Discover your talent, find your future" will be appearing on a wall built by Highbury construction students, for budding street artists to decorate.
Student ambassadors will also be on hand to answer any questions about Highbury College, including A Levels, Level 3 & 4 courses, Apprenticeships and Higher Education courses.
The Talent Tent will be pitching up at:
1st, 2nd & 3rd August: Southsea Show, seafront
9th - 10th August: Contemporary Makers at Aspex Gallery
13th August: Seafront/Canoe Lake.
21st August: Advice and Guidance Day (Highbury Campus)
