Anna's Weekly Soap Update for Week Ending 20 July

Author: annahowelll Published: 23rd July 2012 17:27

For all of you that may have missed any of last weeks soaps, here is a chance to catch up before the week ahead is upon us

Hollyoaks

With Will (James Atherton) released from bail following his arrest  for the murder of Lynsey Nolan (Karen Hassan), his mission is to try and prove his innocence, or at least scream and shout about it.  A run in with Declan (Brendan Brady) and Cheryl (Bronaugh Waugh) leaves him feeling hopeless of every being accepted back in to Hollyoaks society again.  Ash (Holly Weston) tries her best to reunite him with Dodger (Danny Mac) at least, which works to a degree, but then when Texas (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove) finds out she is less than happy with Dodger's betrayal.

Brendan's paranoia intensifies when Cheryl returns from Ireland.  He sends Walker (Neil Newbon) to follow her every move and protect her, something which does not go unnoticed and so he is soon forced by Cheryl to spill the beans over why.  She doesn't react well to the fact that her best friend could have possibly been murdered because of her brother, and reacts even worse when she finds out that if it was Sampson who killed Lynsey then it was actually her he was after.

Silas (Jeff Rawle) is sent to the hospital for his regular check-up and whilst there fakes a heart attack giving him a perfect opportunity to escape.  He heads straight over to Texas house and ties her up.  Whilst there he admits that Will had no part in the murder and that he had just set him up by saying he had no knowledge of the book that the young, wrongly accused Savage had claimed to be writing.  Dodger turns up to make but leaves when there is no answer, leaving poor Tex fearing for her life having been told by Silas that when he killed India, he was actually aiming for her instead.  Texas is found by Doug (PJ Brennan) in the end after Silas leaves her and goes on the run, last seen following a group of random hen-partying girls onto a bus.  Texas tells the police what Silas said about Will, but he is warned that this is only circumstantial evidence and so it might not necessarily get him off the hook.  Ash tries her hardest to get an alibi out of him in order to help his case, but is horrified when he gives her one.  Silas had been setting him a string of tasks to complete before helping him with his book, and one of them had been to befriend a girl online and manipulate her into meeting him.  He did it, always contacting her from a different computer, and when she turned up to meet him he was hid behind the bushes filming her.  Having no idea that he was the person she had arranged to meet, the girl spotted Will and ran off, but as he points out to Ash, she can verify his whereabouts, but a horrified Ash tells him he is on his own, disgusted by his actions.

Shaken by her parents' divorce, Maddie (Scarlet Bowman) takes her dads credit card and all her friends and heads to her family's holiday home in Abersoch.  Keeping the reason for her blowout to herself, Maddie plays the hostess and the gang are soon in full party mode at the Welsh beach house.  George (Steven Roberts) has to admit to his new boyfriend that he is a virgin, and Jono strays away from Ruby (Anna Schafer) with a random girl (which she later finds out about and instantly dumps him.) Whilst walking along the beach Maddie bumps into a friend of her ex, who comes across as very arrogant and obnoxious, later when she escapes the gang and gets drunk alone on the beach, she bumps into him again, but it soon becomes apparent that his intentions are less than honourable as he tries to force himself on her.  Luckily for Maddie, Esther (Jazmine Franks) is walking past and comes to her rescue.  At first Maddie is mean to her as usual, but then after Esther goes to leave Maddie shows a softer side and the pair begin to have a heart to heart.  Maddie starts acting very out of character, complimenting Esther and telling her how beautiful she is.  Esther takes it the wrong way (or does she?) and leans in to kiss the stroppy queen bee.  Maddie pulls back in shock and Esther runs away, but Maddie chases her and tells her it is ok, she isn't angry and they can just forget all about it.  They return to the house and find Maddie's dad there with his new girlfriend, which well and truly ends the party.  Back home Esther confides in Tilly (Lucy Dixon) about Maddie's parents divorcing, but when Tilly tells Maddie that Esther has told her, she reverts to form and starts being horrible to her once again, and when she forces her to leave the coffee shop she tells everyone that Esther tried to kiss her! (Read my exclusive interview with Scarlet Bowman who plays Maddie about this storyline here).

Emmerdale

Paddy (Dominic Brunt) gets the opportunity of a lifetime when he is offered a job in New Zealand for two years.  He and Rhona (Zoe Henry) are over the moon, but when Marlon (Mark Charnnock) finds out they soon realise that the move isn't going to be as carefree as they thought.  Marlon is devastated, and by the end of the week Paddy has the great idea of taking Marlon with them.  Rhona is less than happy as Marlon agrees and starts to make arrangements to emigrate with his weird, dysfunctional family, but there is one person who is even less impressed, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy).  Faced with the thought of losing him for good, she seizes the opportunity to tell Marlon that she is still in love with him, and begs him not to go.  Marlon is torn, but what will he decide to do?

Alex (Kurtis Stacey) is in Victoria's (Isobell Hodgins) bad books this week when he manages to get them evicted from Andy's (Kelvin Fletcher) cottage after he floods it.  Victoria is as stroppy as ever, but takes it to the new level by the end of the week when she dumps him.

Amy (Chelsea Halfpenny) and Victoria go for a night out on the town when Amy catches the eye of a young male admirer.  He offers to buy the girls a drink and it isn't long before he has his tongue shoved firmly down Amy's throat, before they are rudely interrupted by his angry girlfriend.  The older woman pulls Amy off him before punching her in the face causing a split lip.  Once the bouncers calm things down Amy reveals that the woman is in fact her mum.  Back home and the events from the night before seem to have given Amy a little perspective as she tells Val (Charlie Hardwick) that she wants nothing to do with her real mum; in her opinion Val and Eric (Chris Chittell) are her parents now.

Eric and Val seem to be getting closer again after she manages to trick him into coming back to work, but it looks like she may have lost the opportunity when Amy's mum comes round looking for her daughter and Val sends her on her way.  She is forced to tell both Eric and Amy what she has done, certain that they will be furious with her, but she is left pleasantly surprised when Eric defends her actions, and Amy tells her she isn't angry with her.

Cain (Jeff Hordley) is still suspicious of Cameron (Dominic Power), especially now that Chas (Lucy Pargeter) is stirring things by agreeing with him, and planting doubtful seeds in Debbie's (Charley Webb) mind too.  Cameron tries to warn her off, but her reaction is to tell Debbie that she thinks he is up to something, but is he?

Coronation Street

Still being kept in a B&B by his dad, Simon gets nervous when Peter (Chris Gascogne) reveals that they are going away on a boat, and manages to get hold of a phone to alert Leanne (Jane Danson).  Meanwhile, Carla (Alison King) has agreed to accompany them on the trip, but when Leanne turns up wanting answers, she insists she hasn't seen them.  Michelle (Kym Marsh) witnesses this and tells Leanne she thinks that Carla is lying and the pair follow her into Peter's flat where they catch her gathering the passports.  Leanne follows Carla to the train station where she manages to catch them before they board the train.  Leanne convinces Peter to let Simon choose who he wants to go with again, and he chooses her.  Tearfully, Peter and Carla board the train anyway and leave Weatherfield, well for a few months anyway, (click here to find out more).

Marcus (Charlie Condou) and Tina (Michelle Keegan) decide to set Jason (Ryan Thomas) and Maria (Samia Ghadie) up on a blind date.  However, their plan backfires when they realise they have been had and knock the idea on the head, but will that be the end of it?  Click here to find out more.

Michelle's son, Ryan, returns from Glasgow this week and is much different than we all remember, not only has he got a completely different face (click here for more details) he has a completely different personality from that of the loveable, loyal lad who left for Uni a few years ago.  He goes to catch up with Sophie (Brooke Vincent) and ends up causing a fire in her dad's new house, forcing him to pull out of the sale of the house, which means that Steve (Simon Gregson) is left out of pocket.  To get him to earn the money to pay Steve back, Michelle makes Ryan take a packing job at Underworld, where he fakes a fall and ends up in hospital threatening to sue for compensation.  Rob is not at all convinced and gets Eva (Catherin Tyldesley) to pretend to go out with the young scamp to blow his cover which she does.  Michelle is horrified at what her son is turning into (it's going to get much worse!) and throws him out.  He makes it as far as the Rovers where he ends up being pulled away from a punch-up with Rob by Steve who takes him home to his mum.  Michelle seems ever-so-grateful for Steve's help, but she doesn't have much time to mull it over as no soon as Ryan is through the door again, then he tells her that he has been chucked out of university and he is back for good!

Eva isn't letting up on her campaign to keep Sunita (Shobna Gulati) away from Karl (John Mitchie), and this week she succeeds when Sunita hands in her notice and goes back to work in the shop with Dev (Jimmi Harkishin).  Dev takes this as a good sign and starts making rushed plans to bring their wedding forward to six weeks' time.  Felling trapped and frustrated, Sunita turns to Karl to confess she doesn't know if she should marry Dev because she is in love with someone else (wonder who!) - Can't wait to find out what happens next, click here to find out.

Kirsty's (Natalie Gumede) anger and jealousy is spiralling out of control.  Having firstly already seen Tina away from her fiancée Tyrone (Alan Halsall), this week her paranoia is fixated on Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), and after several violent outbursts she issues a tired and confused Tyrone with  an ultimatum, well actually a demand more like, he is never ever allowed to be alone with Fiz again.

EastEnders

Kat's (Jessie Wallace) mystery affair intensifies this week when her new lover sends her a secret mobile phone for them to communicate by and a key to a flat for them to meet in (a flat that I am almost positive is one of the ones on Janine's books at Butcher's Joints - if you want to see more of my detective work as to who the mystery man is, then click here and here).

Lola (Danielle Harold) is getting bigger and border now that she is only a week away from giving birth.  She and Jay (Jamie Borthwick) have an evening out using the excuse of her pregnancy as to why she broke her curfew, however when the owner of the fast food place they have been playing up in calls the police to report her criminal damage, she is arrested and spends the night in the cells.  Her behaviour continues to spiral out of control and Billy (Perry Fenwick) is in despair worried that her baby will be taken away from her the moment she is born, but a day locked in a small room with Shirley (Linda Henry) soon teaches Lola a few lessons in life and it seems that for once she has actually listened to someone.  There is a huge storyline involving Lola during tonight's Olympic Torch episode, if you want to know more click here and here.

Michael (Steve John Shepherd) is under close watch from Janine (Charlie Brooks) this week.  Having convinced her to make him a signatory on the business account, she then notices he becomes incredibly distant from her.  Having managed to get away from the hospital for half an hour, she returns back to work to find him going through the safe.  He thinks he has managed to sweet talk her again, but as soon as she is away from him she instructs Billy to change the safe combination.
