Portsmouth Summer Show 2016 - Review

Those of you who went to this spectacular event last year would not have been disappointed and it was double the fun in 2016 with the festival lasting over two days on this bank holiday weekend.

With a very impressive line-up, ranging from big names such as Peter Andre and Diversity to our very own Southsea Alternative Choir and Rhythm Of The 90s, all three stages were a constant buzz of excitement leaving the crowd literally spoilt for choice.

Photo by UK News in PicturesOur particular favourites amongst the acts performing on Saturday have to be Lucy Spraggan who, just like last year, wowed us from start to finish, followed by Scouting For Girls, who spun the happy audience in to a frenzy.

On Sunday, not only did Sam Bailey wow the audience with her impressive and powerful vocals but she was followed by an extremely popular Reggie and Bollie who were an absolute hit with the audience and had them jumping up and down to their energetic performance.

Then it was time for what seemed to be who everyone was waiting for - Diversity. The introduction of the newest and youngest member of the crew - mini Perry, aka Theo - was met with much excitement.

We were very impressed with Fun Loving Criminals, whose cool and charismatic set rounded off what has to be described as a great weekend of music.

But of course there was so much more than just music on offer, and for those of you who toyed with the idea of bringing their kids along, it would have been a gamble well worth taking.  As last year, the kids' arena was like a mini festival in itself, with donkey rides and the pop-up seaside making the weekend as fun and fabulous for the younger festival goers as it would have been for the adults.  Everywhere you looked you saw a child with a huge grin and painted face, as they made their way through the selection of exciting rides and entertainment.

To summarise, Portsmouth outdid itself yet again, pulling off a festival that could well rival the big ones, at a fraction of the cost, with the whole community coming together  to celebrate our waterfront city at its finest.

We literally can't wait for Victorious now, especially as the same amazing people will be organising it, leaving us in no doubt that this festival season will continue to be epic.

Well done Portsmouth!
