The Creative and Cultural Industries Faculty with the University of Portsmouth presents
Spoken Word Poetry Performance
Tuesday 20 October 2015
Students and Staff are invited to ‘Matter' a spoken word workshop and scratch performance by award winning poet and former UK poetry champion, Deanna Rodger, on October 20th at 6pm in Eldon lecture room 1.09
Deanna teaches Writing for Performance with Benjamin Zephaniah at Brunel University, and works with theatres including Roundhouse Camden, Lyric Hammersmith and Young Vic. She has received commissions from National Youth Theatre (2012 Team welcome Ceremonies, Buckingham Palace), BBC (Iplayer, 1Xtra) and Sky News (Morning Thoughts). Deanna is co-founder of Chill Pill (Soho theatre, Albany Deptford) and Keats House Poetry Forum.
‘Matter' is an Arts Council Funded project: Travel through the quantum physics of M-theory, to the black hole of break-up raving. See memories as constellations; bursting through synapses like supernova, light from the past, mapping conditions from long ago. Is the point of no separation, the point where there is no light? Or is all light Matter?
