The online competition, designed to showcase the talent and the fun that exists in care homes and find the best care home entertainer, came to a close this week when votes were counted. Votes for each entry had been gathered from friends, family and the public live on the website www.carehome.co.uk.
You can still view Linda's video entry on the Care Home Idol site here.
Linda said: "I really enjoyed watching all the entries and did a lot of voting myself on other entries as I thought there were many lovely ones - great variety and I loved seeing just how much entertainment goes on in homes up and down the country.
"It was great to see the residents having fun and entering along with their carers, great fun for all I would say :)
I think it was a great idea and hope carehome.co.uk run it again next year.
"As an entertainer, it was a great way to showcase our acts to care homes as well as being a lot of fun.
"I would like to thank all my voters, mainly via Facebook, and also the care homes who have since booked me to sing to their residents as a result of seeing the contest."
Davina Ludlow, Director of carehome.co.uk said: "Linda is obviously a natural entertainer and her video entry showcases this, as well as the variety of her performances. Well done Linda on your position of finalist, I am sure you will continue to entertain and bring a smile to the face of all those who watch you."
The Care Home Idol Initiative has the backing of Penny Mordaunt MP, co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Ageing and Older People who said: "There is rightly much focus on the care system when things go wrong, but we should remember that there are also some wonderful homes out there where residents are supported to pursue their hobbies and talents, while being engaged and entertained."
Congratulations Linda!
