Parkgate Carnival 2018 - Even Bigger, Better and Hotter!

Published: 9th July 2018 12:07

Northern Lights Charity aimed for an even bigger and better Carnival and that was achieved with bells on!

With favourites like Batala Mersey, local bands and performers on two stages plus field acrobatics, over 90 stalls in attendance and activities galore, the community were spoilt for choice. Music ranged from Brazilian drums, sea shanties, rock bands, duos and choirs to name a few.

Stalls had every craft you can think of and a fantastic range of artisan foods. Others offered lifestyle opportunities from Life Coaching to crafting.

Neston Cricket ground was packed with 7,656 people soaking up the atmosphere; they sang, danced, clapped, laughed, chilled, cheered, ate and shopped in glorious sunshine.

The Mayor of Neston Pat Kynaston crowned the Carnival King and Queen; Ethan Holroyd and Charlotte Rowland together with their attendants Keira Dermott and Jamie Slemmen from Woodfall Primary School.

Karen Jones, chair of Northern Lights, said: "We're delighted to celebrate once again with our community, we are always overwhelmed with the support of local businesses in sponsoring the event, particularly Rightway our overall sponsors, the public, 80 volunteers, our committee, the Mayor, the staff at the Neston Cricket Club and so many other people who never fail to make our events so special.

"We hope everyone had a fantastic day and we sincerely thank everyone for their support."

All funds raised will go towards taking children with life limiting illnesses to Lapland. Click here to receive Northern Light's news and see how funds go to "Making Today's Dreams Tomorrow's Destination".
