Sunday 14th July 2013, 3pm - 8pm
The 13th Long Melford Street Fair, to be officially opened at 3pm by Sir Richard and Lady Hyde Parker of Melford Hall with The Long Melford Silver Band getting the day off to a flying start. The day is packed with activities for every age and taste, the amazing childrens Funfare rides, Helter skelter, Punch and Judy, circus workshop, artist workshops, birds of prey, bubble of fun etc. John Nunn chairman of the Street Fair commitee has promised 2013 will be a bumper year, " 2013 is going to be such a special year, and the street fair is a celebration of our community spirit"
Long Melford Street Fair enjoys an enviable reputation for musical entertainment, and this year no other than than Elvis himself amongst others and our local Route 66 group will perform.
There will be the ever popular steam engine (courtesy of Simon Webb) and displays of static engines, together with Long Melford Fire Brigade who will be putting on a demonstration of how to rescue occupants out of a vehicle.
The Street will be lined with many stalls selling plants, cakes etc, take-a-way food of every kind, plus the tea rooms, pubs & restaurants will be open, local charities will have an opportunity to promote themselves. There will be a Street Fair Grand Draw with prizes generously donated by the local businesses.
Hall Street will be closed to through traffic from 12 noon until l0pm, disabled parking will be at the Village Hall car park (opposite Bull Hotel), with the main car park being on Long Melford Green.
