Nick Moore has had a wide ranging career in racing, including working for legendary jumps Trainer and Champion National Hunt Trainer Martin Pipe, he won the Jockey's SW Championship in 1993/1994 and rode places at the Cheltenham Festival in the Kim Muir, he then became a successful racehorse trainer with a dual purpose licence in Newmarket.
Following the Royal Marines Officers course, Nick went on to study a BA (Hons) Degree in Archaeology from Durham University. Post graduation, he attained extensive experience in London working within the communications, promotions and recruitment sector which has proven immeasurably useful for AboutMyArea.
"After struggling with his weight (which had to be circa 9 stone), however, Moore quit to return to a normal life. He still wanted to combine the outdoors with the excitement so undertook the Royal Marines officers' course and then studied archaeology at Durham University before going on to work in recruitment as a headhunter in London. If he's ever stuck for conversation with a jockey in the paddock at the races, he can always run him through the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods in descending order of age", Telegraph.
Nick lives with his wife Lorraine and their two dogs, Tolly and Cooper. As well as being on the Stour Valley Community Archaeology Committee, he still enjoys riding, along with running, long dog walks, cycling, kayaking and photography for the AboutMyArea/CO10 Site.
