Plan Protest Walk to Marks Hall on Sunday 14th September
Coggeshall Community Action Group (CCAG)
The Coggeshall Community Action Group is staging a protest walk on the 14th September to show its opposition to a planned housing development by Honywood School and Marks Hall. The proposed new school will span the dangerous A120 (13th most dangerous road in the UK). The proposed £30 million school will be built on land owned by a neighbouring land-owners, the school fields will be on agriculture land owned by Marks Hall and 350 houses will developed.
The Coggeshall Community Action Group has been formed by local residents to oppose the project. “The group has been overwhelmed by the support we have received from local residents and like-minded organisations and their willingness to help us in what may well be a long and difficult fight.” Said chair Martyn Lucas
CCAG invite everyone opposed to the new development to join them on a walk of peaceful protest on Sunday 14th September. All walkers are to meet at the Coggeshall Clock Tower at 11.30am. The proposed route is through Coggeshall and onto Marks Hall Estate using public footpaths.
“CAUSE (Campaign Against Urban Sprawl in Essex) is deeply concerned about these proposals and about the total disregard for the views of the local community. It is astonishing that the Trustees of a charity devoted to the promotion of agriculture, arboriculture and forestry unanimously support a scheme for 350 homes, an industrial park and a school on Greenfield land within the boundaries of a medieval settlement.” Says Rosie Pearson.
