Come and Sing! Workshop with National Youth Chamber Choir

On Sunday 22 February, The Royal Hospital School will welcome choral conductor Adam Treadaway and members of the National Youth Chamber Choir of Great Britain to lead local singers in a three-hour, fun-packed vocal workshop with singers of all abilities, aged 9 and upwards; everyone is welcome to come along and make music together!

At 5pm that afternoon, the National Youth Chamber Choir under the direction of Dominic Peckham will perform a varied programme of works in the splendid surroundings of the Royal Hospital School Chapel. This is a rare opportunity to hear the NYCGB’s elite chamber ensemble in concert as they prepare for their performance at the American Choral Directors Association Conference in Salt Lake City, USA.

The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain offer a rounded musical education using dynamic teaching methods and repertoire spanning Gregorian plainchant right through to commissions from present-day composers. They facilitate exploration of extended vocal techniques including improvisation and beat-boxing alongside the traditional art-form of choral singing.

Members of NYCGB benefit from the expertise of world leaders in choral conducting and first class vocal tutors, plus workshops with exceptional visiting proponents of a broad range of musical styles. On residential courses, singers receive individual vocal tuition, Alexander Technique lessons, musicianship tuition and careers advice in addition to rehearsals in sections, half-choirs, chamber groups and full choir. The choirs perform nationwide and embark upon recording projects and collaborations.
