Jewellery, Silver Clay (One-Day), Assington Mill, 28th November 2016

This is an extra day for this popular course, for those who don't have to work on Mondays, or whose children are at school.  Come and make presents for your friends and family, and relax and have fun at the same time!  Silver clay is an amazing new art material (99% silver) that makes it possible for everyone to make real silver jewellery without the need for traditional tools or previous experience.

We will begin with a demonstration of how to handle and work with the clay, showing you how to plan and execute your designs.  We will cover cutting and texturing, stamping and shaping to create different forms and finishes.

The price includes enough silver clay to make two or three finished pieces.

Your finished pieces will be fired and polished and you will then be able to make them up into a variety of finished items.

All equipment and tools will be provided.

Enough clay for two or three small items is included in the fee, worth about £20, but you can buy more from Melanie on the day if you want to make chunkier jewellery.

A selection of silver ear wires, necklace chains etc. priced from £1.50, will be available to purchase to complete your creations.

Home made lunch, biscuits and cakes will be included in the fee.

Please ring Anne on 01787 229955 or email info@assingtonmill.com if you would like to go on the reserve list.

  • Most excellent 2 days, course far exceeded my expectations.  Really enjoyed myself and am going home with 3 great pendants and 2 great charms in real silver than I’ll be proud to wear!  Already considering next course!  Wonderful surroundings and facilities and a real tonic after a week in London.  Thank you for sharing such a wonderful spot with such good grace.

  • A brilliant weekend.  The course was very good and I produced more jewellery than I thought we would.  I would definitely return to Assington Mill!

  • Very well paced, friendly course with a lovely end product (bonus).  Food excellent.

  • Wonderful presentation.  Love that someone can speak without umming and erring.  Very kind and easy way of presenting.  Pace appeared to suit the group as whole.  Didn’t know what I wanted to learn, however was happy for it to be presented to me and tried thing I never would have otherwise, eg I would not have done mouldings, but they are among my favourite pieces and other folk on the course said they would not have done leave but likewise, now among their faves!  Lesson is, encourage the class to try everything!  Organisation and venue superb.  Couldn’t ask for more from the hosts.  As campers we never expected to be fed and watered at breakfast and invited in in the evening too.  Catering:  sublime.

  • A really interesting and instructive day out with a great deal achieved in excellent company.

  • Enjoyed the day.  Everything was great for a nice friendly day out with learning a new hobby at the same time.  Margaret J

What to Bring
    •    Warm clothing and footwear as you will be sitting still all day and, as there is no tarmac here at Assington Mill, you will not feel comfortable in high-heeled shoes.
    •    Some idea of what you would like to design.  A small template might be useful.
